In the beginning
We live in a quiet community in the outskirts of Halifax called Brookside. Brookside and Hatchet Lake are two small communities built around a series of Lakes - Hatchet Lake, McGrath Lake and Mooshorn Lake. With three lakes within 2 minutes, great people, and an excellent all-in-one grocery, hardware, pizza, and take-out place called Holt’s, why would you want to live anywhere else?

Last April we heard rumors of a new subdivision being planned for the land at the end of our street. Soon after, a meeting was announced at the local Junior High School to discuss the proposed development. We discovered that one of the new subdivision’s main access points was to be our street and that 250 new homes would be built over the next few years. Most of the community was concerned about traffic, road conditions and crowding of our small community; however, all we could think was, “how do we make sure we get the piece of land we want so we can build a new house?” This was the start of our quest and we immediately started talking to the development company building the new subdivision.
That leads us to this blog. This blog is intended to document our progress and to enable us to easily keep friends and family up to date.
